Hornet fight is not that difficult compared to some bosses that come later in the game. Just remember 4 of her moves, and you can dodge her attacks relaxingly and beat her.

Here is my step by step on how to counter Hornet’s moves.

If she is about to dash onto you from above, just walk towards her, turn around and hit her in the back.

Alternatively, you can also jump over her then strike her.

When Hornet dashes on ground towards you, you can also jump over to her back and stab her in the back.

If she floats in the air and swings her threads, jump up and Vengeful Spirit her if you have enough soul.

If she needles you, jump to avoid being hit. If you are close enough, you can also sneak an attack on her and then quickly jump back as her needle retracts.

That’s all the moves she got at this stage. When she’s hit enough times, she will become invincible and flees.
